Dave Ring Named to The National Law Journal’s Elite Boutique Trailblazers List

Dave Ring Named to The National Law Journal’s Elite Boutique Trailblazers ListTaylor & Ring is proud to announce that partner and firm co-founder Dave Ring has been named to The National Law Journal’s list of Elite Boutique Trailblazers. The Elite Boutique Trailblazers list was created in 2017 to honor those “who have made a remarkable difference in their specialized area of law,” and “have shown a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission, having achieved remarkable success along the way.”

Dave sat down for an interview with the magazine to talk about his work on behalf of sexual assault and harassment victims in schools. Taylor & Ring was one of the few law firms in the 1990s to start taking on these cases. As he told Trailblazers, “I didn’t think that type of problem could be that common in schools. And 25 years later, it’s an epidemic.”

Fighting to protect California students from predators

Since he started taking assault and harassment cases in the 90s, Dave Ring has fought on behalf of numerous victims. He has obtained multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements, and handled many high-profile cases that received national attention. In 2017, Dave was interviewed by ABC News’ Nightline for a segment on “Passing the Trash,” the act of moving abusive teachers from school to school, rather than taking appropriate disciplinary and legal actions. In a recent case, Taylor & Ring obtained a $5 million settlement on behalf of a student, “S.M.”, who was sexually abused by her 30-year-old math teacher. It was the largest payout by the Los Angeles United School District so far.

Blazing a trail in the era of #MeToo

While Dave Ring and the attorneys of Taylor & Ring have been fighting for abuse victims for decades, the recent #MeToo movement has increased not only awareness of harassment and abuse, but also a willingness for victims to come forward. Dave told Trailblazers that the landscape has changed, and that his clients, as well as others, are “much more willing to speak out, come forward, come forward sooner, be stronger and take on higher profile people.”

These survivors have inspired Dave to fight even harder – but they have also shown him how far we are from fixing the problem. There is much work to be done on behalf of the abused.

And you can bet Dave Ring will be there to do it.

All of us at Taylor & Ring are very proud of the work Dave does, and the work our attorneys do, every day on behalf of victims of sexual assault and abuse. We are also proud of Dave for making The National Law Journal’s list of Elite Boutique Trailblazers for this work. We invite you to read the article for yourself.
