David’s comments: “I have represented many children who were sexually abused by a teacher, a coach, a youth instructor, a pastor, or by some other person in a position of authority. People ask me if I’m surprised by the Penn State scandal; unfortunately, I am not. I have seen many, many cases where a school, youth league, church or business does not report suspected child abuse because they are more concerned about the entity’s reputation than the welfare of the child. So they turn a blind eye to it or sweep it under the carpet. Penn State officials did the same thing. They protected one of their own (the coach who was molesting boys) instead of the boys being abused.”
