New tech tools emerge in fight against child sexual abuse

A certain aspect of child sexual abuse eradication efforts is progressively emerging into public light in a manner that is most assuredly heartening to all but the most perverted and dangerous people living in the United States and foreign countries.

At the same time, though, and even as dramatically exciting announcements are being made that spotlight new and increasingly effective tools for uncovering sexual perpetrators, the problem is underscored for its sheer magnitude.

And, thus, those who desperately hope for new assists that can cut to the heart of child sexual abuse — that is, the employment of progressively evolving technologies that can better identify sex criminals and put them away — are simultaneously elated by crime-fighting tech improvements and saddened by the massive and seemingly implacable problem of child sexual abuse by adult offenders.

Truly, the dimensions of the problem are staggering. As noted in a recent CNN article on the subject, members of one American cyber crime unit reportedly see about 25 million images of compromised and otherwise harmed children on Internet sites each year. Putting a dent in that is an arduous task that requires constant effort and help from every conceivable source.

And, thus, some of the new tools being developed and made available to digital experts poring over computers are being passionately embraced.

Moreover, they are yielding results, and in a material way that buoys investigators. The above-cited media report notes that the enhanced efficiency that is on display with dramatically improving technologies provides “a mental health benefit” to individuals whose life work is the identification and apprehension of child molesters.
