Taylor & Ring Interviewed in the Daily Journal about the Effect Large Verdicts Have on Keeping Institutions from Repeating Past Mistakes

The Daily Journal recently interviewed partner David Ring about the effect that multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements have on institutions whose negligence or malfeasance led to the serious injury of innocent people. Taylor & Ring is widely acknowledged as a leader in the fight against sexual abuse of children by teachers, counselors, religious leaders and other authority figures in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California.

The article discussed Taylor & Ring’s $5 million settlement against Big Oak Flat Groveland Unified School District and Paso Robles Joint Unified School District on behalf of a student who was abused by her teacher – a teacher who had been transferred from Big Oak despite numerous complaints against him for inappropriate behavior. As David Ring told the Daily Journal, “massive verdicts tend to have a ripple effect in other institutions, noting that school administrators — seized by fear that they aren’t sufficiently protecting students — will institute new policies proactively to avoid a potentially devastating lawsuit.”
