Taylor & Ring Law Firm Takes on Child Molestation Cases in Lawsuits Against Desert Sands Unified School District

Child Molestation Cases in Lawsuits Against Desert Sands Unified School DistrictAttorneys from the Taylor & Ring Law Firm are representing child molestation victims of Robert Keith Bryan, a long-time teacher with Desert Sands Unified School District.

Bryan taught mostly fourth grade from the mid-1980s until he was arrested in 2011. Dave Ring is representing several students who are alleged victims of Bryan’s.  The litigation has shown that Desert Sands Unified School District received multiple complaints about Bryan improperly touching girls at school as far back as the early 1990s, yet the District did little or nothing.

At one point, a story in the Daily Mail reports that Bryan was disciplined and suspended for ten days without pay after being seen by four other students inappropriately rubbing a female student’s back on the school playground. Despite the letter stating that this was Bryan’s third incident of “inappropriate behavior in three years,” he was transferred to another school–Gerald Ford Elementary– and allowed to continue to have access to students.

Finally in 2012, the police arrested Bryan for molesting girls from that year, and Bryan was ultimately convicted and sent to prison.

When authorities searched Bryan’s classroom in July 2012, “suggestive” images of young girls were found on his computer.

The school district’s conduct was outrageous.  It knew it had a dangerous teacher and yet moved him from school to school instead of firing him and reporting him to the police.  This allowed Bryan to molest girls over a 20 year span.

Taylor & Ring represents several victims in ongoing litigation against Desert Sands and Bryan.  It is imperative that new victims come forward to preserve their right to bring a civil suit, because the statute of limitations is a very short one in lawsuits against school districts.  It can be as short as six months, although there are exceptions to this rule.  A lawyer can explain the rule to any victim’s parents.
