The Daily Journal Recognizes David M. Ring as One of Top 30 Plaintiffs’ Lawyers in California

The Daily Journal Recognizes David M. Ring as One of Top 30 Plaintiffs’ Lawyers in CaliforniaTaylor & Ring is proud to announce that partner Dave Ring was recognized by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal as a Top Plaintiff Lawyer for 2018. This list honors 30 top plaintiffs’ attorneys who devote 100 percent of their practice to that specialty.

The Daily Journal included an article, which looked at how his sexual abuse cases are at the intersection of what’s happening with the #MeToo movement, the sexual abuse scandals with the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church, and children who have been sexually abused by adults.

Handling high profile, complex cases throughout Southern California

The article highlights four of Dave Ring’s most high-profile, complex cases. First is a recent jury verdict which awarded his client, a 7-year-old El Monte girl who suffered sexual abuse which was reported to the Department of Children and Family Services, but DCFS concealed those reports. The county offered $1 million to settle the case, but the jury awarded $45.4 million.

Second, the article also highlights the story of a client who reported to the Los Angeles police that she was victimized by movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Third, the Daily Journal highlights Dave’s representation of a woman who was allegedly assaulted by Father Alex Kim, a priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. Father Kim has a history of exploiting female parishioners and employees of the diocese, but his superiors did little to end his misconduct aside from spending time in a treatment center for sexually deviant clergy.

Finally, the Daily Journal article highlights the $5 million settlement for a woman who was sexually abused by her public high school teacher. Dave Ring was quoted, “They got rid of him by giving him a positive, fake recommendation for a job at a different school,” he said. “They called it ‘passing the trash,’ and it is horrible.”
